Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant Launches New Rebar Production Line

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (part of Mechel Group) launched a new line producing thermo-strengthened rebar at the plant’s mill 300-2. This product is widely used in construction. Investment in the project totaled 100 million rubles.

The line includes new Russian-made equipment which cools a steel bar by 500C in a split second due to a high-pressure water flow and lends the resulting rebar all necessary mechanical qualities. The line’s production capacity is 200,000 tonnes of rebar a year.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant is actively expanding its thermo-strengthened rebar range, as its production cost is less than traditional hot-rolled rebar’s, while the thermo-strengthened type has a higher strength grade of A500C and is high in market demand. In 2020, the plant launched a line producing 10-mm and 12-mm rebar at its mill 240, with investment totaling 50 million rubles. Overall, the plant has currently mastered a wide assortment of thermo-strengthened rebar’s sizes and types.

“Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant is famous for its rebar production and supplies rebar to domestic and international construction sites. The line’s special structure, including the cooling chamber, enables us to promptly adapt the production process to suit our clients’ demands,” Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s Operations Director Alexey Tolstikov noted.
