Mining enterprises in the towns of Mezhdurechensk and Myski were turned into joint-stock companies, with some of the shares handed over to employees and the rest put into authorized capital stock of the new company Southern Kuzbass.
1993
In order to boost efficiency of the company’s four open pits, Southern Kuzbass Coal Company acquired Southern Kuzbass Explosives.
2000
Having acquired Lenin Underground mine, Tomusinsk and Kuzbass processing plants, the company began underground mining and coal processing operations.
2001
The company launched the Sibirginsk mine and Krasnogorsk Processing Plant to handle anthracites and steam coal.
2002
Southern Kuzbass Coal Company joined Mechel Group, which tasked the company with increasing production volumes, expanding its raw materials base, constructing new enterprises and upgrading equipment.
2003
Southern Kuzbass Coal Company won auctions for the right to use subsoil plots for coking coal exploration and mining at the Raspadsk Open Pit, Sibirginsk Mine Berezovsk-2 areas which hold estimated reserves of 120.5 million tonnes total.
2004
Southern Kuzbass Coal Company won auctions for the right to use subsoil plots for coking coal exploration and mining at two plots of the Erunakovsk coal deposit, with total estimated reserves of 264.6 million tonnes.
2005
The company launched New-Olzherassk Underground mine.
2006
Southern Kuzbass Coal Company joins Mechel’s coal division Mechel Mining.
2007
New high productive long wall face No. 21-1-3 in seam 21 has been commissioned at the New-Olzherassk mine. Mechel invested approximately $100.0 million (RUR2.5 billion) in the mine’s construction. The new long wall face’s coal reserves are estimated to exceed 1.5 million tonnes.
2008
Construction of Sibirginsk Mine’s second line, halted in 2008, is resumed. It will bring the enterprise’s capacity up to 2.4 million tonnes of coal per year. The increase of production volumes at the Sibirginsk mine will be achieved gradually, with the second line scheduled to be launched in October 2014. Sibirginsk’s first line is operating with a design load of 1.2 million tonnes a year, with the plant’s ultimate reserves set at over 90 million tonnes.
2011
Krasnogorskaya Washing Plant marked its 15th anniversary.
A new longwall is launched at V.I. Lenina Underground mine, with workable reserves estimated at 369,000 tonnes.
As part of Mezhdurechensk’s preparations for Miner’s Day festivities, the company remodelled the boulevard in the town’s Yunosti street.
Waste-water treatment facilities at Sibirginsky Open Pit were revamped, with investments totaling over eight million rubles. This modernization enabled the company to reduce discharge of pollutants into the local river by six times.
The company’s ecological project on mined-land reclamation, joint with the United Nations, was acknolewdged among the best at Russia’s mining forum MINEX-Russia-2017.
2017
The company celebrated several anniversaries — Southern Kuzbass Coal Company itself was 25 years old, its V.I. Lenina Underground mine marked its 65 years, and Southern Kuzbass Explosives — its 20 years.
At Olzherassky and Sibirginsky Open Pits, contractors fully equipped with mining and transport machines joined preparation and mining works.
New-Olzherassk Underground mine launched a new longwall with reserves estimated at 3.6 million tonnes.
Southern Kuzbass Coal Company became winner of the regional Ecoleader contest’s Enterprise nomination and Mezhdurechensk’s most active coal company following the Days of Defense against Ecological Danger event.
2018
The company implemented a target-oriented program of revamping equipment at its washing plants. This logically led to a noticeable increase in coal processing — it amounted to 12% on the previous year.
The company acquired a testing bench for high-pressure hose used in hydraulic equipment. Thanks to that acquisition, the hose produced by Southern Kuzbass Coal Company may be used not only at open pits but at underground mines as well.
The company heads the task group on developing professional standards for companies conducting underground mining. Three such standards have been already prepared and approved.
Krasnogorsky Open Pit’s anthracite output went up by 77%. After processing, this coal product is used as high-carbon commodity for ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy as well as limestone and sodium production.
Sibirginsky Open Pit celebrated its 50th anniversary. Over this half a century, the open pit mined over 152 million tonnes of coal and processed some 900 million tonnes of rock mass.
