Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant Boosts ExportsBeloretsk Metallurgical Plant (part of Mechel Group) boosted exports of its steel products by 74% in the first half of this year as compared to the first half of 2020.
The plant supplied approximately 88,000 tonnes of steel products to foreign markets. Sales of wire rod doubled, hardware sales went up by 38%. Sales of spring wire for furniture production went up nearly fivefold, while sales of regular hard-drawn wire doubled.
Sales of thermally treated wire for bundling and zinc-coated wire for mesh also went up by 53% and 52% respectively. Sales of wire ropes and structural sections for fittings of various types increased by 21% and 19% accordingly. Sales of nails also demonstrated a five-percent growth.
“The boost in exports of steel products was due to increased demand from several industries as pandemic-motivated limitations were partially taken down,” Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant’s Managing Director Sergey Fedorov commented.
Exports account for some 34% of Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant’s overall steel products sales. The plant exports its output to more than 20 countries. Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant exports wire rod, wire, ropes, including polymer-coated ones, and nails to Europe and the CIS member states.
